Ruthie’s been investigating that bad orange kitty’s access to our deck. 





She really wants to explore, and we’re not sure that she’d ever find her way back (bless her heart).  So I went to Ace Hardware today, looking for some way to secure the deck. I got this polyethylene gutter-guard stuff. I was there on my bike. The cashier at Ace didn’t have a red flag that I could tie to the stuff for safety on the way home, but he gave me a pink piece of paper, and let me use his masking tape.

By the time I got home, a drawing had happened. 

That was easy.

What are those 2-D barcodes called, anyways

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside of industry due to its fast readability and comparatively large storage capacity. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of any kind of data (e.g. binary, alphanumeric, or Kanji symbols)^[1].
Created by Toyota subsidiary Denso Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. The QR code was designed to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.^[2]
The technology has seen frequent use in Japan and South Korea; the United Kingdom is the seventh-largest national consumer of QR codes.^[3]

Don’t get me started about the tsuris we experienced at the airport in Toronto. It was dehumanizing. Also pants. Also naff.  Also egregious.

It was Soviet, is what it was.  It was like trying to clear customs in Bucharest in 1985.  Screw you, TSA. Fuck you. I mean it. Stasi couldn’t have done it better.

 

Here’s all the stuff that we brought back for people.  Sorry if we didn’t get anything for you.  We suck at shopping.
