Bruce Chao was a glass/conceptual artist from the 70's thru the '90s. He taught at RISD. No idea what he's up to now.

Blog Redesign

Oops. I was trying to tweak my old blog template a while ago, and I kinda broke it; everything was crammed up against the left margin, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so last night I set up this new design.

Pride Mural

Pride Mural, originally uploaded by dumbeast.

This intersection needs a crosswalk. For some reason, the City of Oakland doesn't want there to be one there. They've been petitioned to install a crosswalk there, but have refused. A couple months ago, anonymous citizens painted a crosswalk here on their own. It was awesome, and it did the trick, but after a few weeks, the city came and painted black over it.

I'd like to submit a proposal for a mural for DowntownLakeMerritt · Neighborhood Group, Oakland CA

As it's not actually a crosswalk (crosswalks are white on black,
everybody knows that) perhaps the city would allow it to remain.
Additionally, as the mural represents gay pride, removing or defacing it
could be construed as a hate crime.

Just a thought.

Cerina has noticed that there are no Polar Bear Pokemon, so she designed one for me to crochet. At least I think that's what's going on.

This revolting document came to me in the mail yesterday. Conde Nast Publishing has a new magazine for executives called "Portfolio". This is how they're selling it.
